Pay your fine

Brisbane City Council officers will investigate, enforce and issue Infringement Notices (or fines) for offences that may impact on the health, safety or amenity of the city. Fines may relate to parking, animal and a range of local law offences.

Council calculates fines using penalty units based on the severity of the offence. As of 1 July 2023, the value of a penalty unit is equal to $154.80. The fine amount must be rounded down to the nearest dollar after the calculation. For example, the fine amount for an infringement of two penalty units is: 2 x $154.80 = $309.60. The rounded down fine amount is $309.

Council offers a number of ways for you to pay your fine. You can pay online, by BPAY, phone, post, in person at a Council Business Centre or Australia Post, or by instalment plan.

Ready to make a payment? It may take up to two hours from the time your fine was issued to be able to pay. You have 28 days from the issue date to pay your fine.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, contact 1300 012 747 to discuss available options.

You can check your fine online now via the Self Service Portal.
