Timetable and tickets

Brisbane City Council operates one of the largest bus fleets in Australia, along with the CityCat and CityFerry network.

A select number of CityCat and CityFerry terminals are operating on partial services. Find out more about CityCat and CityFerry services.


Timetables are available for download on the TransLink website. Alternatively, you can pick up timetables from:  

  • ward offices and libraries
  • King George Square bus station at the Ann Street concourse
  • Garden City bus interchange
  • Brisbane Ferry Information Centre at the Riverside Ferry Terminal
  • many newsagencies and some local convenience stores
  • on-board CityCats and CityFerries


You can buy TransLink tickets for buses and ferries from:   

  • bus and ferry operators
  • Queensland Rail (QR) staffed station or QR vending machines
  • private bus operators
  • some newsagencies and local convenience stores

Children and students' concessions

Children and students are entitled to concessions if any of the following applies:

  • four years and under travel free
  • five years to 14 years inclusive - half adult fare
  • Queensland secondary students from 15 years and over:
    • in school uniform - half adult fare 
    • not in school uniform on a non-uniform day (must show valid school photo ID card) - half adult fare
  • full time post-secondary and tertiary students from Queensland approved institutions in Austudy, Abstudy or youth allowance approved courses must show their ID cards with QR logo - half adult fare
  • disabled child with Brisbane Transport Special Programs (Education) Pass - free
  • One Zone Free Travel (Safety Net) Pass - travel for cost of one zone
  • Tertiary Transport Card - must also show their students ID card - half adult fare. These are issued to:
    • rural students whose ID cards don't have the QR logo
    • students who attend more than one institution for more than 12 hours

Adult concessions

Adults are entitled to half fare if any of the following applies:

  • pensioners holding a current Pensioner Concession card or Commonwealth Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) card 
  • DVA gold card with expiry date (Queensland)
  • Seniors card (all states and territories)
  • Pensioner Concession card with expiry date (all states and territories)

Adults are entitled to free travel if any of the following applies:

  • War Veterans' Brisbane Transport Pass
  • Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) Veteran Travel Pass
  • blind person (and accompanying guide or instructor) with Brisbane City Council Blind Pass or National Vision Impairment Travel Pass
  • official (teacher, carer) accompanying a disabled child with Brisbane Transport Special Programs (Education) Pass
  • National Travel Pass - Person with Vision Impairment (Pass) - accompanying carers must pay full fare
  • Companion Card (all states and territories) - accompanying companion free - Companion card holder must be in possession of a valid ticket or pass
