About the project

The Bicentennial Bikeway upgrade- Hale Street east is now complete. The project involved upgrading and widening a section of the Bicentennial Bikeway from the Merivale Rail Bridge to the William Jolly Bridge.

The upgrade connects to previously upgraded stages of the Bicentennial Bikeway providing separate cyclist and pedestrian movements from Park Road at Milton to the CBD.

The Bicentennial Bikeway upgrade - Hale Street east is part of a broader initiative to separate pedestrians and cyclists from Toowong to the CBD. Brisbane City Council is progressively upgrading the Bicentennial Bikeway to minimise the impact of construction work on pathway users.

The project increases capacity and improves safety for Brisbane’s busiest bikeway, which carries more than 4,000 pedestrians and cyclists each day.

Council would like to thank pedestrians, cyclists and residents for their patience and cooperation while works were carried out on this important upgrade in the bikeway network.

The Bicentennial Bikeway upgrade – Hale Street east is part of Lord Mayor Graham Quirk’s commitment for Brisbane City Council to provide $100 million in new bikeway infrastructure over four years. It is also part funded by the Queensland Government.
