About the project

As part of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) and Australian Government’s Gateway Upgrade North (GUN) project the existing roundabout at Bracken Ridge Road and Barfoot Street has been replaced with a new signalised intersection.

As there is no U-turn facility at the new signalised intersection, Council installed a U-turn facility on Bracken Ridge Road between the service road and Barfoot Street on behalf of DTMR.

Works to construct the U-turn facility included:

  • removing trees in the centre median
  • removing and replacing a section of footpath on the southern side of Bracken Ridge Road
  • extending the existing stormwater drainage
  • road pavement construction
  • asphalting and line marking.

Works began in November 2018 and were completed in early December 2018.

Council would like to thank local residents and businesses for their patience and understanding during these important works to improve the safety and efficiency of this busy area.
