About the project

Brisbane City Council is planning to upgrade the shared pedestrian and cycle bridge within Northgate Reserve at the end of Elwyn Street.

The existing structure is a timber girder bridge with a narrow deck and is currently unsuitable for shared use. Upgrading the bridge to a Council preferred structure will ensure the current standard for public safety is met and will enhance usability for pedestrians and cyclists with a widened crossing and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.

Project timing

Council will continue to engage with local residents and businesses as the project progresses and more information is available.

Council expects detailed design to be completed in late 2018 with construction anticipated to be undertaken from early 2019, weather permitting.
