About the project

The Noble Street Bridge closed to pedestrians in 2009. This was due to the deterioration of its structural components and public safety concerns. Council replaced the Noble Street Bridge with an alternate bridge approximately 80 metres to the west.

Works to remove the Noble Street Bridge will include:

  • creek bank stabilisation works
  • removing the existing structure
  • temporary closure of a section of Granville and Noble Streets adjacent the bridge
  • removing and reinstating one tree and approximately 13 mangrove trees
  • associated landscape works.

Council will undertake offset planting and landscaping in the immediate area.

During construction, a section of Granville and Noble Streets adjacent to the bridge will close to traffic. Council will provide temporary footpath access for pedestrians and cyclists. Parking restrictions and temporary traffic arrangements will be in place.

Project timing

Construction will generally take place between Monday and Saturday from 7am to 5pm. Council will provide advance notification for required night works during construction. Residents in the area can expect construction noise, increased truck movement and low-level vibrations and dust.
