Participate in facilitated networking, learn from industry leaders, and bring your questions for the Lord Mayor, guest speakers, and Council officers. The networking session will be facilitated by <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/tomallendesign" target="_blank">Tom Allen</a>, Founder and CEO of Impact Boom. Speakers at this forum include <a href="https://www.griffith.edu.au/griffith-business-school/yunus-social-business-centre/alex-hannant" target="_blank">Alex Hannant</a>, Co-Director, Yunus Social Business Centre, Griffith University and <a href="http://foodconnectfoundation.org.au/board" target="_blank">Emma-Kate Rose</a>, General Manager, Food Connect. Their topics are ‘Ingredients for success and failure – 10 things I’ve learnt about social enterprise’, and ‘Running a business with heart and purpose: why social enterprises are on the rise’. Tom Allen is a leader in the social enterprise, innovation and design sectors, and works passionately to empower purpose-led people to unleash their greatest potential in creating positive social impact. With international experience as a social entrepreneur, design strategist and educator, Tom and his team deliver award-winning projects, programs and consulting, including Council’s 2019 Social Enterprise Program. Alex has been working alongside social enterprises since 2005. The Yunus Centre leads Griffith University’s research, teaching, and engagement in social entrepreneurship and enterprise. Alex also works on initiatives supporting innovation and enterprise for social impact, and currently serves on the Boards of B Lab Australia and New Zealand, the New Zealand Advisory Board for Impact Investment, and Pomegranate Kitchen – a social enterprise focused on supporting former refugees. Emma-Kate has extensive experience in applied research, sessional lecturing, project management, event management and start-up enterprise development. After starting and selling her car-sharing business in 2007, she joined Food Connect as General Happiness Manager, coordinating a significant internal restructure, improving financial accountability and getting ‘investment-ready’ to scale impact.
