Succulent - Artist: Lesley Kendall
9:00am to 4:00pm
Suitable for all ages
Succulent is an immersive experience using art to draw people closer into an intimate relationship with nature. The art installation will feature a collection of small, imaginary paper succulents created in the artist's studio. These paper sculptures will be embedded in the succulent garden located in the Cactus House of the Botanic Garden.
The small scale of the artworks aims to intimately engage participants and encourage them to be drawn into locating the artworks amidst the beauty of the living plants. With this mindful attention the often subtle and hidden beauty of our natural world is revealed.
Succulent celebrates the beauty and diversity of succulents and their ability to adapt to changes in climate and environment. The installation will also aim to educate visitors on the benefits that succulents offer, including their cultural, edible and medicinal qualities. During the installation there will be an artist led workshop and educational talks for the public.
Location: The Cactus House.
