The Duyfken: A tale of exploration, wars, and spices
11:00am to 12:00pm
Young adults, Adults, Seniors
The original Duyfken was the first European ship to land on Australian shores. In 1606 the ship anchored near Weipa in north Queensland. Seeking 'Nova Guinea', or new gold, the ship had inadvertently landed on a barren strip of coastland hundreds of kilometres south of the Spice Islands in present day Indonesia. Join Roy Stall as he tells of the Duyfken's voyages and the replica which was built in Freemantle.
