Glider Festival - a community tree planting event
Date & Time
Sun 20 May 2018 • 10:00am - 2:00pm
Northside residents are invited to a family-friendly tree planting event including other free activities. The Glider Festival is a great excuse to dust off the picnic basket, gather your family and friends, and plant trees to create more places for wildlife habitat - growing our urban forest.
Besides tree planting, there will also be a composting and worm farming at home presentation, wildlife friendly backyards presentation, glider monitoring project presentation by Kedron Brook Catchment Network Northside, Brisbane Botanic Gardens plant display and gardening information, free native plants and other gardens and wildlife interactive displays and workshops.
Chat to Council experts at the event and find out more about pest and invasive species, Habitat Brisbane volunteering opportunities, and what you can do in your own back yard to increase native plant and animal biodiversity.
There's also a tonne of fun for the kids to get involved in including:
- Geckoes Wildlife presentation and meet and greet the animals
- making grass heads activity
- roving wildlife and tree characters
- giant games.
We encourage you to actively travel to the event by walking, riding your bike or taking public transportation. You can use the Cycling Brisbane route planner to plan your bike ride journey, or the TransLink Journey planner to plan your public transportation journey.
We encourage you to bring your own water bottle, reusable cup and cutlery to support a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Brisbane.
