Nicole, haunted by a traumatic relationship in the past, has come to Rosella Cove to try and rebuild her life. An elderly hermit, Charlie harbours many secrets including one that has consumed his life. As their lives intertwine, and an unexpected friendship develops, they must confront the pain that torments them so they can find the life and family they were meant for. In Nicole, we see a woman struggling with the afermath of an emtionally abusive relationship. The resulting trauma implodes her entire understanding of what it means to be a woman in today's society. Haunted by regret, Charlie offers a window into how alcoholism can destroy one's life and those of the people surrounding them.
