Shakespeare in the Gardens
Date & Time
Sun 22 Apr 2018 • 10:00am - 4:00pm
Come celebrate the work and times of the Great Bard with us. See Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens transform into an Elizabethan pageant of music, craft, botanical discoveries and Shakespearian delights, highlighted by outdoor performances of ‘Great Shakes’ (a compilation of some of his works) and ‘Bad Lads’ (Hamlet and MacBeth) by the Shake & Stir Theatre Company.
Enjoy themed music from the Queensland Wind Orchestra, listen to the lute, take a guided walk viewing the flowers featured throughout Shakespeare’s plays, learn about the New World plant discoveries of that time, make your own pomander bead or dye with indigo, enjoy fencing demonstrations by Prima Spada and check out what’s cooking in an Elizabethan Kitchen.
Bring a picnic lunch and blanket to spread on the Bandstand Lawn and make a day of it at the Botanic Gardens.
