Dog off-leash areas (dog parks)

Brisbane City Council provides over 160 dog off-leash areas (commonly known as 'dog parks') in parks across Brisbane. Dogs can run, exercise, and socialise leash-free with other dogs and dog park visitors. Dog off-leash areas are generally fenced and include facilities such as seating, water, dog waste bins, and some shaded areas. Some dog parks also include agility equipment for drills and shelters for dog park visitors and their pets.

Your obligations as a dog park user

When using dog parks, make sure your dog:

is under your control (e.g. your dog will return to you when called)
is not a nuisance to other dogs and their owners
droppings are disposed of in the bins provided
is registered with Council, wormed regularly and its vaccinations are up to date.

Suspected dog baiting

Should you find a suspected dog bait in a dog park, contact the RSPCA by:

phoning the Animal Ambulance on 1300 852 188 where an animal is seriously injured, ill or trapped and requires urgent attention.

Maintenance

Contact Council to report maintenance issues in dog parks.

Leave It program - free dog training sessions

Council has partnered with Griffith University to deliver their Leave It program, offering free dog training sessions across Brisbane. Training will focus on helping your dog learn wildlife avoidance and provide you with excellent tips for helping you have more effective control over your dog in public.

These free sessions will be held at parks across Brisbane, see below for dates and parks and check the Leave It website regularly or follow @furry.friendsaus on Facebook or Instagram for full details, updates and specific locations within the parks.
