Supporting documentation for parking permit applications

To ensure Council can process your application as quickly as possible, it is important have the correct supporting documentation to submit with your application. The documentation must be in your name and address, as on your application.

Provide copies of your documentation (not originals) when submitting your application. Council cannot send documents back to you.

To confirm residency details:

  • if you are the owner:
    • current rates notice, or
    • contract of sale (new owners only)
  • if you are the tenant:
    • the first two pages of your tenancy agreement (minimum six months remaining on the lease)
  • if your name is not on the tenancy agreement:
    • ​the first two pages of your tenancy agreement (minimum six months remaining on the lease), and
    • statement from head tenant verifying that you live at the stated address, and
    • current utility bill (gas/water/electricity/telephone) or driver’s licence showing your name and address
  • If you don't have a formal tenancy agreement:
    • a letter from the property owner verifying that you live at the application address, including the length of your tenancy (minimum six months remaining on the lease), and
    • current utility bill (gas/water/electricity/telephone) or driver’s licence showing your name and address.

To confirm vehicle details:

  • for resident permit:
    • current vehicle registration renewal notice or transfer document showing the vehicle is registered in your name at the application address, or 
    • current vehicle registration certificate showing the vehicle is registered in your name and current Queensland driver’s licence (both sides) showing the address to be the same as provided on residency details
  • additional documentation or a statement is required if the vehicle registration document is in:
    • a different name but has the same address to the permit application:
      • you must provide a statement with your application
    • your name but has a different address:
      • you must provide your driver’s licence showing the same address as the permit application
    • a different name and different address to the permit application:
      • you must provide a statutory declaration from the registered vehicle owner to confirm that you drive and park the vehicle at the permit application address.
  • for a company vehicle:
    • a letter on company letterhead to state that it is a company vehicle. Include the vehicle registration details, stating that you use the vehicle and that it is parked at your address.

You may be required to provide additional proof of residency or vehicle details. This could include a Queensland drivers licence or adult proof of age card.
