City Botanic Gardens Telstra works

March 2024

Brisbane City Council and Telstra will be undertaking works to install underground services from the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge landing on the corner of Edward and Alice streets to the City Botanic Gardens.

These works are required to provide telecommunications from Brisbane CBD to Kangaroo Point, via the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge.

Construction

As part of these works, Telstra will be undertaking the following:

  • delivery of machinery out-of-hours on Thursday 28 March 2024
  • excavate entry and exit pits
  • directionally drill underneath the current Kangaroo Point Green Bridge (KPGB) construction area on the corner of Edward and Alice streets to the City Botanic Gardens near the KPGB office compound area
  • install underground conduit/cable
  • reinstatement works in the gardens as required.

What to expect

If you live in, or are travelling through, the area, you may experience:

  • traffic control onsite to facilitate deliveries of equipment via trucks and assist people through the area
    • access to the gardens will be maintained during works, with path widths reduced to accommodate construction equipment and minor delay during deliveries
  • construction noise, vibration and some dust from machinery, equipment and trucks
  • out-of-hours delivery and removal of oversized machinery.

We value your patience and cooperation while we undertake this important work.

Construction hours

Construction is anticipated to start on 2 April 2024 and take one week to complete, weather and site conditions permitting. Works will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
