Civil infrastructure projects

Brisbane City Council's City Projects Office produces innovative solutions for a range of civil infrastructure projects. Services include:

  • engineering
  • transport infrastructure
  • road and traffic design.

Road Action program

The Road Action program is a major infrastructure program tackling Brisbane’s most congested roads. City Projects Office is delivering a wide range of major and minor intersecction and corridor improvement projects. These projects reduce traffic congestion, increase safety and improve access across Brisbane’s local road network.

Bikeway program

The Better Bikeways 4 Brisbane (BB4B) program aims to reduce traffic congestion through dedicated bikeways and active travel options. City Projects Office is delivering $100 million of bikeways under the BB4B program over four years. The program provides safer access for those who currently cycle, but also to significantly boost the number of people cycling. Infrastructure includes a combination of on-road cycle lanes and off-road shared and separated paths.

School Safe program

City Projects Office is delivering pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle-friendly environments for Brisbane schools. The program is jointly funded by Council and the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The program includes facilities for:

  • safer pick-up and set-down for students
  • indented bus bays to improve traffic flow
  • improved bicycle amenities.
