Accessibility statement and information
How we make our website accessible and inclusive for everyone.
Our commitment
Brisbane City Council is committed to providing a website that is accessible and inclusive for all users. This supports our commitment to an inclusive Brisbane, where everyone can access information and services irrespective of ability.
We aim to ensure that our digital content does not create barriers for people with disability and can be accessed using a range of devices and assistive technologies.
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly review and improve our website to enhance usability and accessibility for the community.
Accessibility standard
Council's website is designed to meet Level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1.
These internationally recognised guidelines help make web content more accessible for people with disability, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers and speech recognition software.
Council is working towards alignment with newer versions of these guidelines as part of our continuous improvement program.
Continuous improvement
We aim to maintain and improve accessibility across our website by:
- regularly reviewing our content and functionality
- improving identified accessibility issues
- applying accessible design and content practices to new and updated pages.
Documents and file formats
We aim to provide information in accessible formats wherever possible.
Some older or third-party documents may not fully meet accessibility requirements. Where this occurs, we will work to provide the information in an alternative accessible format on request.
All new or updated content is expected to meet accessibility requirements.
If you require any information on the site in an alternative format, contact Council.
Feedback and support
If you experience any difficulties accessing information on our website, we encourage you to contact us.
You can:
- provide feedback using the website feedback form
- request information in an alternative format.
We will work with you to provide the information you need in a way that is accessible.
