Ashgrove Library air conditioning upgrade - Ashgrove
We’re upgrading the air conditioning system at Ashgrove Library in Ashgrove to support a continued positive experience for visitors.
As part of these works, we will be installing a new air conditioning system as well as:
- replacing ceiling panels
- upgrading internal lighting
- improving the public address (PA) system.
Venue closures
To keep everyone safe, Ashgrove Library will be closed for up to 7 weeks while we carry out the works.
The last day to visit the Ashgrove Library before the upgrade will be Saturday 24 January 2026.
La Pola Café will stay open, and you’ll still be able to access the decking and walk through the area safely. We’ll aim to maintain access to free Wi-Fi at the cafe, though there may be occasional disruptions. Pedestrian access around the library and café will remain open, allowing safe passage through the area.
Construction impacts
Construction will take place Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 6.30pm, with Saturday works as required, pending weather and site conditions.
Temporary fencing and signs will be in place. Some car parks on Amarina Avenue may be temporarily unavailable at times due to construction deliveries.
Some noise and increased vehicle movement is also expected during work hours, but we will work to minimise disruption where possible.
Children's Storytime and Mobile Library impacts
Children’s Storytime sessions will continue during the Ashgrove Library closure and will be held at Dorrington Park, Ashgrove. These sessions will run every second Friday at 9.30am and 10.30am, with additional sessions every Tuesday at the same times, starting 27 January and continuing until mid-March 2026.
The Gap Mobile Library will be available during this period. It will visit Ashgrove Golf Course fortnightly on Fridays, operating from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause for many library patrons and apologise for the disruption to regular library activities.
Alternative library facilities
Ashgrove Library will not be accepting any returns during the closure.
While the Ashgrove Library is temporarily closed, library items can still be returned at several nearby locations:
