Beeston Street Local Access Network Improvements - Teneriffe

Link copied

We've completed works to improve safety and accessibility on Beeston Street at Macquarie Street in Teneriffe.

Our Local Access Network Improvements program delivers important upgrades to ensure our suburbs are safe and accessible for all road users, particularly pedestrians.

This project included:

  • installing a pedestrian refuge island on Beeston Street at Macquarie Street
  • installing kerb build outs and upgrading kerb ramps on both sides of Beeston Street, and the western side of the existing pedestrian refuge crossing on Macquarie Street
  • installing additional pedestrian tactile on the Macquarie Street pedestrian refuge
  • minor footpath improvements
  • painting associated line marking, including yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines where on-street parking will not be permitted
  • relocating bus stop 14 (Macquarie Street at Mercantile Place) 12 metres north on Macquarie Street
  • changing some loading zones and parking spaces on Macquarie Street to ensure a balanced distribution of parking in the area.

We encountered tram tracks within the project site and were required to temporarily put our works on hold while we engaged with the state government. Following their advice, the remaining works will now resume.

To ensure pedestrian safety, we have temporarily asphalted the walkway on both corners of Beeston Street.
