We're completing works to improve safety and accessibility on Beeston Street at Macquarie Street in Teneriffe.

Our Local Access Network Improvements program delivers important upgrades to ensure our suburbs are safe and accessible for all road users, particularly pedestrians.

This project will include:

  • installing a pedestrian refuge island on Beeston Street at Macquarie Street
  • installing kerb build outs and upgrading kerb ramps on both sides of Beeston Street, and the western side of the existing pedestrian refuge crossing on Macquarie Street
  • minor footpath improvements
  • painting associated line marking, including yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines where on-street parking will not be permitted
  • relocating bus stop 14 (Macquarie Street at Mercantile Place) 12 metres north on Macquarie Street
  • changing some loading zones and parking spaces on Macquarie Street to ensure a balanced distribution of parking in the area.

  • Late May to early July 2025: Works to improve safety and accessibility will take place, weather and site conditions permitting.

Works will take place from late May to early July 2025, between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, weather and site conditions permitting.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may notice:

  • increased noise, dust, vibration and vehicles
  • changed traffic conditions, including footpath and lane closures, and reduced speed limits
  • traffic controllers and signage onsite.

On-street parking within the work area will not be available during construction.
