Carindale Recreation Reserve Park upgrade – Carindale

Link copied

We’re sharing the final concept plan and starting initial works of the Carindale Recreation Reserve upgrade.

This project is one of the many ways we are creating more to see and do in the suburbs. It supports our goal of being a healthy and active city.

Initial works focus on improving how people move into and around the park. They will lay the foundations for future potential upgrades to be completed.

Initial works will include:

  • building a new 2‑lane park entry from Cadogan Street to provide safer access to the car park
  • removing the existing 1-lane park entry from Bedivere Street and returning this area to open parkland
  • expanding the car park with more spaces
  • upgrading and realigning shared paths
  • adding safer crossing points
  • removal of some vegetation
  • replanting of vegetation to retain the reserves habitat value.

The reserve is home to koalas and other native wildlife. A qualified wildlife spotter-catcher will monitor the animals to ensure they are protected during construction.

In November 2025, we asked the community for feedback on a draft concept plan for the park upgrade.

Feedback was collected via an online feedback survey and 2 in-person information kiosks. We also considered feedback about the park collected by the Chandler Ward Office in 2024.

We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to share their ideas and priorities in 2025.

  • November 2025: Community engagement to seek input on draft concept plan.
  • Mid-2026: Release final concept plan.
  • May 2026: Initial works to start.
  • Late 2026: Completion of park upgrade.

Works will take place from mid-May 2026 to late 2026, between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

The park will largely remain open while works are underway, and access via the Belvidere Street entrance will be maintained.

During construction, you may notice:

  • temporary path changes or short detours
  • construction machinery operating within fenced work zones
  • temporary intermittent parking changes
  • increased noise, dust and vehicle movement
  • fenced site compound, laydown and construction areas
  • signage and traffic controllers to guide you safely.

We appreciate your patience while these works are undertaken and will minimise impacts as much as possible.

Future construction works are subject to the availability of future funding. We’re committed to keeping the community informed and will provide more information as the project progresses.
