Cleveland Street Local Access Network Improvements - Stones Corner

Link copied

We're completing works to improve safety and accessibility on Cleveland Street and Zillah Street in Stones Corner.

Our Local Access Network Improvements program delivers important upgrades to ensure our suburbs are safe and accessible for all road users, particularly pedestrians.

As part of this project, we are:

  • installing a pedestrian refuge island on Cleveland Street near Jeavons Lane
  • upgrading kerb ramps and installing concrete islands on either side of Cleveland Street at the new crossing point
  • installing a new streetlight on Cleveland Street near the new crossing point
  • installing a pedestrian refuge splitter island on Zillah Street near Cleveland Street
  • removing 1 small tree and some small shrubs to allow for the construction of a new kerb ramp
  • painting associated line marking, including yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines.

On-street parking will not be permitted where yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines are in place to ensure safe sightlines and appropriate visibility at crossing points and intersections, and to ensure lanes are wide enough for traffic to safely pass.

  • Early June to early July 2025: Works to improve safety and accessibility will take place, weather and site conditions permitting.

Minor lighting works may be undertaken in late May 2025, between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Main construction works will take place from early June to early July 2025, between 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday, weather and site conditions permitting.

These works are required to be undertaken at night when traffic volumes are lowest, to ensure the safety of workers and road users and to minimise disruption to the road network.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may notice:

  • increased noise, dust, vibration and vehicles
  • changed traffic conditions, including footpath and lane closures, and reduced speed limits
  • driveway access will be maintained at all times, with assistance from traffic controllers, as needed.

On-street parking within the works area will not be available during construction.
