Coronation Drive culvert rehabilitation - Auchenflower

Link copied

We’re rehabilitating the stormwater drainage culverts underneath Coronation Drive at Land Street, Auchenflower from late June 2026.

Stormwater culverts beneath Coronation Drive are deteriorating due to age and tidal exposure.

We’re carrying out essential rehabilitation works to these stormwater drainage culverts. These works involve:

  • installing a new structural liner inside the existing culverts to strengthen them and extend their operational life
  • carrying out most work from the Brisbane River using a barge, which avoids digging up Coronation Drive
  • setting up a small, temporary fenced work site within Moorlands Park
  • cleaning the drains and limited tree trimming, where required.

By carrying out these rehabilitation works now, we’re strengthening and extending the life of the culverts.

Most work will happen from a barge on the Brisbane River. This approach means we won’t dig up the road. It also means we won’t need to close traffic lanes on Coronation Drive.

We will use flexible hours to work safely during changing tidal conditions. Work may occur at different times across a 24-hour period, Monday to Saturday.

You may see crews start earlier or finish later on some days. We will not carry out particularly noisy work between 10pm and 6.30am.

If you live, work, visit or travel through the area, you may also notice:

  • construction crews and equipment in the area
  • works on the river and within a small, fenced section of Moorlands Park
  • temporary pedestrian and cyclist detours in place to safely guide you around the work site
  • occasional short pauses on the Bicentennial Bikeway (around 5 minutes or less) while materials, equipment or workers move across the path
  • some noise, light or activity at different times of the day, with work hours adjusted to suit tidal conditions.

We’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption.
