We’re improving pedestrian connectivity on Cubberla Street at Jesmond Road in Fig Tree Pocket.

Our Road Construction Minor Traffic Density program aims to improve and enhance the safety, functionality and overall quality of Council’s road network with minor improvements

Improvements for this project include:

  • installing a pedestrian island and kerb build-out to make crossing the road easier and safer
  • building a footpath, to improve pedestrian connectivity
  • constructing a new kerb and channel to formalise the corner of Cue Street and support drainage
  • minor landscaping works, including the removal of two trees and turf installation
  • better lighting with 1 new streetlight near the intersection
  • new line marking, including yellow no stopping lines.

  • Early June to mid-July 2026: Construction in progress.

Works will take place from early June to mid-July 2026, between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, weather and site conditions permitting.

During works, you may notice:

  • construction vehicles with reversing alarms and flashing lights
  • noise and dust from saw cutting and jackhammering
  • traffic controllers and signage to guide you safely
  • temporary lane closures and minor traffic delays.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while we undertake this important project.
