Link copied

Council is working to improve safety for people walking, riding and driving this suburban corridor.

We're working to improve safety and connectivity for road users along Curragundi Road in Jindalee.

This project is part of our Suburban Corridor Modernisation program which aims to increase safety for active road users across Brisbane’s suburban road corridors and surrounding catchments to these roads.

Completed improvements along Curragundi Road include:

  • splitter islands to improve pedestrian crossing points and improve road safety
  • relocating a pedestrian refuge and bus stop
  • installing line marking
  • upgrading kerb buildouts
  • minor turfing and landscaping works.

Works at the pedestrian crossing at Curragundi Road near Arrabri Avenue will include:

  • removing the zebra crossing on Curragundi Road near Arrabri Avenue
  • building a fenced centre refuge island to create a 2-staged pedestrian crossing
  • installing traffic islands on the northern side and building out the kerb on the southern side of the crossing
  • installing traffic islands on the western side of Arrabri Avenue
  • minor footpath and turfing works
  • painting associated line marking, including yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines.

  • Mid to late 2024: Safety and connectivity improvements along Curragundi Road.
  • Early to late April 2025: Works being undertaken to improve safety at the pedestrian crossing on Curragundi Road near Arrabri Avenue.

  • Works at the pedestrian crossing on Curragundi Road near Arrabri Avenue will take place from early to late April 2025, between 7am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, weather and site conditions permitting. Occasional night works will be required between 7pm to 5am. We will make every effort to complete the works during the school holiday period to minimise impacts to the community and road network.
  • If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience
    • increased noise, dust, and vibration
    • minor delays, reduced speed limits and lane closures
    • traffic controllers and signage on site.
  • On-street parking will not be permitted in spaces marked with yellow ‘No Stopping’ lines for crossing visibility and safety.
