East Street drain relining – Fortitude Valley
Council is relining the stormwater drain along East Street in Fortitude Valley.
We're rehabilitating the East Street drain (between Wickham Street and Ann Street) by relining the stormwater drain and repairing the concrete drain base slab.
Works will include:
- cleaning and inspecting the drain, removing obstructions as needed
- repairing and sealing cracked sections of brickwork.
- repairing the concrete floor of the drain
- installing a spiral-wound structural liner
- filling any voids between the new liner and the existing drain for maximum strength and support to the heritage brick drain.
Works will occur at night from 7pm-5am, Sunday to Thursday, when traffic volumes are lowest. We'll complete any noisy works prior to 11pm, where possible.
Temporary traffic and parking changes
During works, traffic lanes on East Street will be temporarily reduced from 3 lanes to one, during working hours. This reduction is necessary to accommodate construction activities and provide safe access to the access chamber for workers and equipment.
All lanes on East Street will be reopened to traffic during the day.
Car parking bays adjacent to the works will be temporarily unavailable to allow adequate space for works to take place.
Detour signs and traffic control will be used, where required, to help people move safely through the site.
Construction impacts
During construction, you may experience an increase in noise, dust and vehicle movements, including reversing beepers and flashing lights.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete these works.
