Forest Lake Boulevard congestion busting – Forest Lake

Link copied

We're completing improvements at Forest Lake Boulevard near Woogaroo Street and Homestead Way in Forest Lake.

Council’s Congestion Busting program aims to deliver small but impactful changes on roads with higher traffic volumes to help people get around Brisbane more quickly and safely.

We choose project locations by looking at things like safety, visibility, and improving the overall traffic flow.

To make traffic flow smoother and keep everyone safe, we’re planning a few improvements:

  • longer right-turn lanes at Woogaroo Street and Homestead Way to reduce congestion. This means carefully removing some trees and streetlights
  • better lighting with 4 new streetlights along the footpath so the road and walkway are well-lit at night
  • undertaking minor landscaping, including tree trimming, and the removal of 16 trees where needed
  • fresh line marking to make the road easier to navigate.

Tree removals and trimmings have been minimised wherever possible, and our works will be undertaken by a qualified arborist.

To offset any removals, replanting will occur within the local area where possible. This is in line with Council’s commitment to keep our suburbs cooler and shadier.

Works will take place from early January 2026 to early March 2026, between 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday, weather and site conditions permitting. Tree works will occur over 3 days between 9am to 2pm.

These works are required to be undertaken at night when traffic volumes are lowest, to ensure the safety of workers and road users and to minimise disruption. All tree works will be undertaken during the day.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may notice:

  • increased noise, dust, vibration and vehicles
  • changed traffic conditions, including footpath and lane closures, and reduced speed limits
  • traffic controllers and signage onsite.
