Ivory Street Precinct lighting project – Fortitude Valley
We're installing permanent street lighting within the Ivory Street Precinct in Fortitude Valley to maintain public safety and visibility.
We’re installing 13 new permanent lights within the Ivory Street Precinct in Fortitude Valley. This will maintain community safety and visibility to ensure the roadway, and our public areas are appropriately lit at night.
Lights are positioned at specific locations to optimise illumination and to comply with Australian standards.
Works will include:
- removing the current temporary solar powered lights
- removing existing asphalt and drilling into rock to install light pole foundations
- open trenching, tunnel boring and vacuum excavating to install light pole foundations, conduits and electrical pits
- installing LED luminaires and poles
- undertaking electrical cable works and turfing.
Works will generally take place between 7pm and 5am, Sunday to Thursday, weather and site conditions permitting.
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may notice:
- construction vehicle movements with reversing alarms and flashing lights
- construction noise
- traffic controllers and signage to safely direct traffic and pedestrians
- temporary footpath diversions.
There may be intermittent short-term delays for pathway users while work is underway for each new pole. Where required, traffic control will be in place to manage stop and go traffic flow on the path to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and workers.
We value your patience and cooperation while we undertake this project.
