Keith Boden Wetlands desilting works – Wavell Heights

Link copied

Desilting at Keith Boden Wetlands will soon get underway. Works will improve how the wetland functions as part of the local stormwater system.

Keith Boden Wetlands is a constructed wetland that removes pollutants from stormwater. This includes sediment before water flows into Kedron Brook and Moreton Bay. Over time, sediment naturally builds up as the wetland captures material washed in from the surrounding catchment.

These works focus on removing accumulated sediment as part of a staged approach to maintaining and improving wetland performance.

As part of these desilting works, we will:

  • install a temporary construction access track
  • establish a contained work area within the wetland to manage water levels safely
  • remove built‑up sediment using specialised equipment
  • transport sediment offsite for disposal at a licensed facility
  • carry out minor stabilisation works along parts of the wetland edge
  • remove temporary works and allow rainfall to gradually restore normal water levels.

You may notice construction equipment in and around the wetland during works. There may be daytime noise from pumps and temporary odours while sediment is cleared. Water levels may be lower during works and for a short time after completion. These impacts are temporary and will ease once works are complete.

Access through the park will be maintained where possible during works. Traffic control and detours will be in place to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe.
