Kenmore Road corridor modernisation project - Fig Tree Pocket

As part of Council's Suburban Corridor Modernisation program, we're improving safety and accessibility on Kenmore Road.

Council’s Suburban Corridor Modernisation program delivers small but meaningful changes to Brisbane’s suburban streets to make them more accessible, safe and enjoyable to travel on.

In early 2026, we’ll be making it safer and easier to get around the Kenmore Road, Norman Street and Robertson Place roundabout in Fig Tree Pocket. Works will include:

  • installing and upgrading pedestrian islands, kerb ramps and kerb build outs at multiple legs of the roundabout
  • installing a bike off-ramp on the western leg of Kenmore Road, eastbound
  • installing a bike on ramp on Norman Street
  • minor turfing and footpath improvements
  • improving line marking.

You won’t be able to park on the street where yellow no stopping lines are marked. This will keep sightlines clear at crossings and make sure lanes are wide enough for traffic to pass safely.

In July 2025, we completed the following works on Kenmore Road in Kenmore:

  • installed 2 pedestrian splitter islands and kerb ramps at the Kenmore Road and Gilruth Road roundabout
  • upgraded kerb ramps on Crestview Street at Kenmore Road
  • installed line marking and 2 traffic islands on the bend between 50-54 Kenmore Road.
  • upgraded existing lighting
  • painted other associated line marking, including yellow no stopping lines.

  • October 2022: Community consultation.
  • Mid-May to early July 2025: Construction in Kenmore.
  • Early 2026: Construction in Fig Tree Pocket.
