Kessels Road safety improvements – Salisbury

Link copied

We're making changes at the Kessels Road and Orange Grove Road intersection in Salisbury to make it safer for everyone.

The intersection is currently signalised. Right turns from Orange Grove Road into Kessels Road use a green arrow. Drivers can also make a filtered right turn when they judge it is safe without a dedicated arrow.

Between 2017 and 2021, 9 crashes occurred at this intersection. Of these, 5 people were hospitalised and 4 people required medical treatment. Most crashes happened during filtered right turns, where drivers misjudged gaps in oncoming traffic.

Works will include:

  • installation of new mast arm and lanterns on Kessels Road
  • reconfigure the traffic signal phasing to provide a fully controlled right turn into Kessels Road
  • realign pedestrian crossings and reconstruct kerb ramps, new signage and line marking.

This project is proudly funded by the Australian Government’s Black Spots Program.
