Minnie Street upgrade – Upper Kedron

Link copied

Council is upgrading Minnie Street in Upper Kedron to make it safer and to better connect road users.

The upgrade includes:

  • realigning and widening Minnie Street to improve traffic flow onto Rosella Street
  • adjusting the Cedar Creek Road intersection so vehicles can move more efficiently
  • adding bike lanes along Minnie Street to connect to existing bike lanes on Cedar Creek Road and Rosella Street
  • reconstructing the footpath to match the new street layout
  • refreshing road surfaces, line marking and turf where needed.

We’re also exploring ways to reduce congestion at the McGinn Road and Mcalroy Road intersection. These changes will improve access and support future bus services into Upper Kedron.

The upgrade is jointly funded by the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council.

Construction started in February 2026 and will be complete by late 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

The majority of works will take place at night, when traffic volumes are lowest. This will ensure everyone’s safety and also reduce the overall time to complete the works. Night works can be scheduled 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday.

Some works will take place during the day. Day works can be scheduled 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Every effort will be made to complete particularly noisy works prior to 11pm, where possible.

If you live in the area or are travelling through the intersection, you may experience:

  • increased noise, truck movements, low level dust and vibrations, and light from mobile light towers
  • changes in traffic conditions including minor traffic delays, reduced speed limits and temporary lane closures.

Traffic control will be on site during working hours to help you move safely through the work zone.

A temporary lay down area has been established on Levitt Road to accommodate two site caravans and some construction materials and equipment.

Some trees will be removed as part of this upgrade. We will replant trees in the local area in line with Council’s commitment to cooler, shadier and greener suburbs.
