Council is upgrading Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve to improve recreational facilities at the summit outlook area.

We’re about to start the next stage of upgrades at the Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve to improve the look, feel and accessibility of the summit.

This builds on the work we did last year to install several new picnic shelters.

Our latest round of upgrades includes:

  • a concrete path from near the toilets, extending to the maintenance track (across the road from the Café)
  • a sandstone terraced seating wall along the new path, providing additional vantage points for summit views.

  • Mid-late 2025: Stage 1 works to deliver picnic shelters completed.
  • Late March 2026: Works begin on Stage 2 site improvements.
  • Mid-June 2026: Stage 2 works complete.

Construction dates may change subject to weather. 

Council is committed to keeping the local community informed of how these works will impact them. 

Road transport impacts

To build the new terraced seating, sandstone blocks will need to be transported up the mountain. This means construction vehicles will be moving along the access road at certain times.

For safety, these haulage activities will occur early in the morning when visitor numbers are low, and the entry gate will stay closed during this work. Signs will be in place on site to let visitors know about changed conditions.

Site impacts

Construction will take place Monday to Friday from 6am to 5pm, pending weather and site conditions.

A small construction compound will be set up at the summit for equipment and materials. We’ll keep its size and any impacts to a minimum wherever possible.

We need to remove a few small trees to complete these works but will complete offset planting on site to compensate.

Some noise and increased vehicle movement is also expected during work hours, but we will work to minimise disruption where possible.
