Mowbray Park improvements – East Brisbane

Link copied

We’re working with the community to create a shared vision for Mowbray Park in East Brisbane to guide future improvements.

The first stage of works will include:

  • removal of the former bowls club building and facilities to make way for the future park improvements in this area
  • creation of a grassed area that will be open to the public.

Further project stages will be delivered when funding becomes available.

  • Late 2020: Consultation with the community to develop a shared vision.
  • Mid-2021: Draft concept plan released for community consultation.
  • Mid to late 2021: Final concept plan for Mowbray Park released.
  • Mid to late 2025: Planning for the removal of the former bowls club facility.
  • November 2025: Demolition works to commence.
  • December 2025: Demolition works to be completed.

We know how close these works are to where you live, play, commute and work, so will do all we can to reduce the impacts to you.

If you live nearby or are travelling through the area, you may notice:

  • noise and dust associated with the demolition works
  • truck movements, to and from site
  • local parking changes
  • minor road and pedestrian detours.

We will advise of further impacts as the project progresses, pending funding.

Temporary parking changes

From Monday 10 November 2025, there will be temporary parking changes in Park Avenue. There will be no parking permitted on the eastern side of the street, from Lytton Road to the Croquet Club boundary, Monday to Saturday from 6am to 6pm.

Vehicles parked in this section of Park Avenue during these times may be relocated.

These temporary changes will be in effect until further notice.

The concept plan is an overarching plan developed in 2021 after community consultation. It proposes features and improvements that will be implemented in the future when funding becomes available.
