Learn about Council's plans to improve safety at the intersection of Old Cleveland Road and Jones Road, Carina.

This project is part of our continuous review of how our local transport network operates as part of long-term planning for the city. Through this review, we aim to provide balanced improvements that meet the needs of everyone using our roads.

Following the review into the intersection of Old Cleveland Road and Jones Road, Carina, we will:

  • remove the right-turn movement from Old Cleveland Road into Jones Road to reduce conflict points and potential collisions
  • extend the centre median island to physically prevent the prohibited right-turn movement while maintaining your ability to turn right from Jones Road into Old Cleveland Road
  • install new signage and line marking to clearly communicate the changes to all road users.

  • June 2025: Start of construction.

Works will take place from mid to end June 2025, between 8pm to 5am, Monday to Friday, weather and site conditions permitting. Installation works will occur at night when pedestrian and traffic volumes are lowest, to ensure the safety of road users and workers and to minimise disruptions.

During construction, you may experience:

  • increased noise, dust, vibration and vehicles
  • changed traffic conditions, including footpath and lane closures, and reduced speed limits
  • traffic controllers and signage onsite.

If wet weather occurs, works will continue on the next available working day(s) until works are complete.

We would like to thank you for your patience while these works are undertaken.
