Pallara stormwater infrastructure project (stage 1) - Pallara
Council is constructing stormwater infrastructure at Pallara to improve flood immunity and water quality outcomes.
Construction of stormwater infrastructure at Pallara is underway.
Works in the wetlands include:
- constructing an approximately 1-hectare wetland on 101 Vied Road, consisting of an initial sediment basin, marshes and open water zones.
- upgrading the Vied Road culverts to 3 reinforced concrete pipes between the properties at 102 and 101 Vied Road, Pallara.
Remaining Stage 1 works include:
- constructing a vegetated channel running through a section of 38 Sweets Road and 102 Vied Road in Pallara
- the channel will be approximately 410-metre-long, with a channel top of approximately 10 metres and a meandering low flow channel at the base
- constructing a new access track between Sweets Road and Vied Road (that will become the alignment for a future bikeway/bike path/shared path).
During construction, areas will be fenced off and temporary road closures will be in place on Vied Road. There may also be an increase in noise, vibrations, lighting, dust and odour, and construction vehicle movements.
