Pallara stormwater infrastructure project (Stage 1) - Pallara

Link copied

We're constructing stormwater infrastructure at Pallara to improve flood immunity and water quality outcomes for the community.

Construction of the open stormwater channel between Sweets Road and Vied Road at Pallara is underway.

Completed works

The newly constructed wetland at 101 Vied Road is complete and features a sediment basin, marsh zones and open‑water areas.

The upgrade of the Vied Road culverts (three reinforced concrete pipes between 102 and 101 Vied Road) has been completed.

Remaining works

Remaining Stage 1 works are expected to be completed in mid-2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

The remaining works include:

  • constructing a vegetated channel running through a section of 38 Sweets Road and 102 Vied Road in Pallara
  • constructing a new access track between Sweets Road and Vied Road, forming the future alignment for a bikeway or shared path
    • the channel will be 410-metres-long and 10 metres wide at the top.

  • May 2023: Works commenced.
  • Mid-2025: Wetlands works completed.
  • Mid-2026: Remaining Stage 1 works completed.

During construction, areas will be fenced off and temporary road closures will be in place on Vied Road. There may also be an increase in noise, vibrations, lighting, dust and odour, and construction vehicle movements.
