Council is upgrading the stormwater drainage network in Ekibin Park East, next to Ridge Street in Greenslopes.

Works will include:

  • excavating small sections of Ekibin Park East
  • removing existing pipes and manholes to make way for new infrastructure
  • installing new overflow pipes, manholes and other supporting infrastructure
  • widening the existing cycle path to 4.5 metres
  • reshaping the drainage alignment
  • vegetation trimming, where required.

  • Early May 2025: Start of construction.
  • Late September 2025: Anticipated end of construction.

Works will generally be undertaken from Monday to Friday 6.30am to 6.30pm. Typical machinery operating hours will be 7am to 4pm. Some Saturday works may be required and will occur from 7am to 4pm.

Temporary traffic and parking changes

A section of the shared pathway along the Norman Creek open drain will be temporarily closed during the works. Cyclist and pedestrian access will be maintained via a temporary shared pathway on the opposite side of the drain. Please follow the direction of signage and traffic control.

Additionally, a section of the shared footpath on Ridge Street will be closed for the duration of the works. Path users will be directed to cross to the other side of Ridge Street, with designated crossing points clearly signed for safety.

Please see the detour map for details of shared path closures and diversions.

Construction impacts

Work areas on Ridge Street and in Ekibin Park East will be fenced off for safety.

Up to 10 car parks along Ridge Street near the work site will be temporarily unavailable to ensure safety around the works.

During construction, residents and businesses near the works may experience an increase in noise, dust and vehicle movements.

We would like to thank residents and park users for their patience and understanding while these improvement works are underway.
