Better Suburbs - Places and Spaces - Ryans Road, Nundah
Council has now completed streetscape upgrade works at the intersection of Ryans Road and Robinson Road in Nundah.
The revitalisation of this neighbourhood precinct is part of Council’s Better Suburbs – Places and Spaces (BSPS) public realm improvement program. This program is creating vibrant neighbourhood precincts for the local community and visitors to enjoy.
Improvements included:
- new turf areas, garden beds, waterwise landscaping and 10 new street shade trees
- new unique seating and standard Council street furniture, including a drinking fountain, bike rack and bins
- upgrades to the intersections of Ryans Road, Robinson Road and Thomas Street, including line marking and minor kerb and traffic island realignment
- a new on-street accessible parking bay
- a new crossing point on Ryans Road and upgrades to 3 existing pedestrian crossing points
- street lighting upgrades
- integration of natural environment themed creative pavement designs.
The local community was consulted in the planning of streetscape improvements for Ryans Road and Robinson Road, Nundah by providing their ideas in late 2023. Council then later released a concept plan for community feedback in mid-2024.
The community feedback supported streetscape upgrades focused on providing green, public open space, improved pedestrian and road safety, enhanced street lighting and creative placemaking that celebrates local culture, history and identity.
- 20 November - 10 December 2023: Project launch. Community consultation.
- June 2024: Proposed concept design released for community feedback.
- April 2025: Final improvement plan released. Start of construction.
- Late 2025: Project completion.
