Sandgate Library roof replacement - Sandgate

Link copied

We’re undertaking roof replacement works at the Sandgate Library, located within the Sandgate Town Hall building, on Seymour Street, Sandgate.

The Sandgate Town Hall building was built in 1912. It is a historically significant icon listed on the Queensland State Heritage Register.

This project will preserve the facility for all users by replacing the roof. It will also repair minor-water damaged areas of the library from water leaks.

While replacing the library roof, Council will also paint the Town Hall roof. This work will help preserve its condition.

This project will include:

  • upgrading the roof drainage system
  • replacing the roof sheeting on the library
  • painting sections of the existing galvanised roof sheeting in the Town Hall
  • replacing roof sealants
  • removing vegetation from brickwork walls.

  • Late September 2025: Construction.
  • Tuesday 18 November 2025: Library reopens.
  • Late December 2025: Project completion.

Sandgate Library closed temporarily from 7 October to 17 November 2025. The closure supported crucial roof replacement works and ensured the safety of library visitors and workers.

The library re-opened on Tuesday 18 November 2025.

Crews are continuing to work on the roof until December 2025. Sections of the library will be cordoned off to ensure visitor and worker safety.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience whilst we undergo these important works.
