St Pauls Terrace safety improvements - Fortitude Valley
We’re making changes along St Pauls Terrace, between Quarry Street and Gotha Street in Fortitude Valley, to make it safer for everyone.
Works will include:
- installing traffic lights at the St Pauls Terrace and Quarry Street intersection to control all turning movements and provide pedestrian crossing facilities
- changing access to Warren Street to left-in only from St Pauls Terrace. Road users can access St Pauls Terrace from Warren Street by travelling via Barry Parade and Gotha Street.
- adding a new right turn arrow at the existing traffic signals to make turning from St Pauls Terrace into Gotha Street easier.
- installing new kerb ramps, signage and line marking.
This project is proudly funded by the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program.
Construction started from November 2025 and will be complete by July 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.
Most works are being carried out at night, to keep our workers and roads users safe. Night works can be scheduled Sunday to Thursday between 7pm and 5am. At times, day works may also be required.
During the works, you may experience:
- increased noise, truck movements, low level vibration and dust
- light from mobile light towers and flashing vehicle lights
- changes in traffic conditions, including minor traffic delays, reduced speed limits and temporary lane closures.
Traffic management and signage will be onsite to direct people walking, riding and driving.
