Toombul Road at St Vincents Road Congestion Busting project - Virginia
Council is upgrading Toombul Road at St Vincents Road in Virginia to reduce congestion.
We're completing works to improve congestion improvements at Toombul Road at St Vincents Road in Virginia.
Our Congestion Busting program aims to improve the performance of Brisbane’s road network, helping people get home sooner and safer on roads that have higher volumes of traffic.
This project will include:
- extending the northbound right turn lane from Toombul Road into St Vincents Road
- constructing new road pavement within the extended lane
- installing associated line marking, including right turning arrows
- removing and replanting 2 trees
- minor turfing.
Works started in early April and were expected to be completed by late May 2025. The final asphalting and line marking works are now expected to be completed by late August 2025, weather and site conditions permitting.
We’ve been fixing a sewer manhole within the extended turning lane from Toombul Road into St Vincents Road to make sure the road is safe for you to use. This involved working with our contractor and Urban Utilities to update the design, secure permits and comply with relevant standards.
We’ll keep working between 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday when traffic is lighter to keep things safe for everyone and reduce traffic disruptions.
If you’re in the area, you might notice:
- more noise, dust, vibration and vehicles
- changed traffic conditions, like lower speeds, lane closures and minor delays
- traffic controllers and signage on site.
