Wittonga Park playground upgrade project – The Gap

Link copied

We’re improving Wittonga Park in The Gap to support a growing community with quality places to play, relax and connect.

A draft concept plan has been developed for future improvements to the playground and picnic area at Wittonga Park in The Gap. The concept plan reflects what you told us and explores opportunities to enhance the playground and picnic area at Wittonga Park as a welcoming, well‑loved space for The Gap community, now and into the future.

During the initial community engagement in November 2025, we heard how much you value the playground area, and its role as a place for families and friends to gather and play. You also suggested enhancements to the area.

Building on this input, we’re now moving into the next stage of planning together.

In November 2025, we invited the community to share ideas and feedback to help inform the concept design for the playground and picnic area at Wittonga Park.

Your feedback highlighted key themes and areas to consider, including:

  • upgrading the playground to cater for different ages
  • upgrading the picnic area to increase seating and shelters for social gatherings
  • upgrading path network for improved accessibility.

The draft concept plan

The draft concept plan explores a range of potential ideas and opportunities to guide future improvements, including:

  • new playground equipment to cater for different age groups and abilities
  • options to enhance landscaping and shade
  • improvements to path connections for improved accessibility
  • upgraded amenities, including seating and gathering areas.

We aim to balance local perspectives with the broader community benefit, now and into the future. We consider community feedback carefully, alongside technical advice, site constraints, safety, accessibility and funding requirements.

You can view the draft concept plan in the resources.
