Initial consultation
In November 2025, you told us how much you value the playground and picnic areas. You also told us these spaces are important places for families and friends to gather and play. You also shared helpful ideas about how the space could be improved.
Draft concept plan
We used this feedback to develop a draft concept plan. We shared the draft concept plan with the community for consultation in June 2026. The draft explored a range of ideas to guide future improvements including:
- upgrading the playground to cater for a wider range of ages
- enhancing the picnic area with more seating and shelters for social gatherings
- improving the path network to support better accessibility.
Draft concept plan consultation
Feedback from community consultation on the draft concept plan showed:
- support for playground equipment suited to different age groups, including more challenging features for older children and separate equipment for young children
- support for play elements for children with different abilities, and suggestions for sensory play, including baby-friendly areas
- support for wider, more accessible paths and links
- support for upgrading picnic amenities that assist social gatherings, with reliable shade
- requests for improved shelters, and shelters being located closer to active areas to better support group gatherings
- feedback on safety concerns, including congestion and speed in Alutha Street, and the need for fencing near roads.
