Zahel Street pedestrian safety improvements - Carina

Link copied

We’re planning pedestrian connectivity and safety improvements on Zahel Street at Adelaide Street Street in Carina.

This location was identified for upgrades to improve pedestrian safety near the local Clem Jones Centre and Carina Leagues Club.

This work is part of our Local Access Network Improvement program, which focuses on minor upgrades that make a big difference in creating safer and more accessible streets.

This project will include:

  • installing a new pedestrian refuge island on Zahel Street to make crossing the road easier and safer
  • upgrading the existing kerb ramps to improve pedestrian accessibility
  • landscaping, including new turf
  • installing new yellow no stopping lines.

  • Late 2026: Construction is anticipated to start.
