Suburban Business Hub 

The Suburban Business Hub, located in Nundah, provides free support services to assist local business.

The hub is a free co-working and meeting space for Brisbane-based businesses. 

Contact the hub prior to attending as the venue periodically closes for exclusive bookings or workshops.

Visit the Suburban Business Hub to meet and learn from industry experts and access free resources.

At the hub, you can:

  • attend free workshop events run by industry professionals 
  • talk to Council officers about our business services 
  • meet other Brisbane business owners at networking events   
  • make use of the free facilities and equipment 
  • showcase your artwork and products in a rotating window display.  

Drop in to the hub or reserve a table

Brisbane-based businesses can visit the hub at any time during opening hours for co-working or small meetings.

The hub is sometimes closed for co-working during business workshops or large group bookings, so check the availability by emailing us at SBHNundah@brisbane.qld.gov.au.

You can also reserve a table for up to 8 people by using our online form.

Facility information

The Suburban Business Hub is a large, open space (approximately 100 square metres) with facilities including:

  • free Wi-Fi
  • air conditioning
  • accessible toilets (next to the hub) 
  • kitchenette with instant cold or boiling water, sink, small fridge, dishwasher, glasses, cups, saucers, small plates and cutlery
  • Local Business Showcase.

The space is accessible, with no stairs.

The hub has a range of equipment and furniture you can rearrange to suit your needs.

  • 50 chairs
  • 6 tables with flip tops and lockable wheels (750 mm x 1500 mm)
  • 2 round meeting tables (1000 mm) 
  • 4 single lounge chairs
  • multiple laptop and coffee tables
  • 2 whiteboards/pinboards with lockable wheels
  • a wall-mounted TV (with laptop connectivity; HDMI cable not provided). 

The hub’s maximum capacity is 50 people. The following is a guideline based on available equipment.

  • 30 people for workshops
  • 50 people for a theatre-style event
  • 50 people for networking events 
  • up to 50 people for meetings (depending on the room set-up).

There’s no dedicated parking at the hub. You’ll find time-restricted and unrestricted parking on the surrounding streets.

Note

The hub is located close to public transport. It’s a 2-minute walk from Nundah Station and bus services on Sandgate Road.

Book a space

You can book part of or the entire hub if you’re a Brisbane-based:

  • individual business
  • business group
  • chamber of commerce.

Bookings are required for:

  • large groups during drop-in opening hours
  • group bookings outside of the drop-in opening hours (these bookings are considered on a case-by-case basis).

Request a booking

Booking requests must be received at least 2 business days before your desired date. This gives us time to assess the request.

After your booking is confirmed, we’ll prepare a hire agreement. It will include the booking details, access requirements, facility inclusions and your responsibilities.

Venue capacity for bookings

The hub’s maximum capacity is 50 people. The following is a guideline based on available equipment.

  • 30 people for workshops
  • 50 people for a theatre-style event
  • 50 people for networking events
  • up to 50 people for meetings (depending on the room set-up).

Local Business Showcase

Local artisan businesses and makers can express interest to exhibit their products in the Local Business Showcase at the Suburban Business Hub.

This rotating window display showcases artwork and products from local, independent and artisan businesses across Brisbane.

Vee Bkl

Violette Bukala, also know as Vee Bkl, creates striking and intense works inspired by the natural world around us.  A graphic designer by trade who was raised in France but now resides in Brisbane, Vee’s art strives to create a space where we can reflect on our own journey that is sometimes chaotic, other times purposeful and precise.

 

This is an artwork by Vee Bkl to be displayed at Suburban Business Hub.

Brighenti Design Studio

John Brighenti is a ceramic artist creating sculptural and functional work that often incorporates natural textures and materials with classical ceramic forms, blending the lines between the natural and the man-made, the organic and the refined, to create thought provoking pieces. John works and teaches from his studio in Indooroopilly,  where he specialises in raku and lustres.

By Lera Handmade are the fabulous creations of Brisbane designer Louise Gibson. Creating small batch resin earrings which are influenced by two of her favourite things - glitter and the colour pink. They are lightweight making them easy to accessorise for casual day wear or that special nighttime outfit.

Eccentric Republic

Eccentric Republic is the dynamic design duo of Sarah and Maeike, Brisbane based besties. They absolutely love colour and their artwork and products are a testament to this. Their design aesthetic is a little Scandi, harking back to vintage Ikea, with a pinch of Japanese influence, believing that interior design should be as much about self-expression as fashion is.

The Brisbane Business Hub is located in the heart of the city’s central business district. 

The hub offers free facilities and resources from the Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA). BEDA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Council and Brisbane’s official economic development board.

There are no fees for accessing the Suburban Business Hub. The hub is a free co-working and event space for businesses in the Brisbane Local Government Area. All the equipment and facilities in the hub are free to use as required.
