Lord Mayor's International Business Forums

Brisbane City Council is investing in our city’s growth and providing relief to those who need it most as our city recovers from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. Council is nurturing innovation and backing small businesses with more support in the suburbs through the Lord Mayor’s International Business Forums.
The Lord Mayor’s International Business Forums provide local business owners and entrepreneurs from all industries with an opportunity to make new connections and increase knowledge in starting or growing a business internationally by leveraging Brisbane’s Sister City network.
Each forum focuses on selected Sister City markets by inviting industry experts or local businesses who have expanded into Sister City markets as guest speakers. Guest speakers share their experiences and tips on taking their business and ideas global. Participants of the previous forums have gained industry-specific information for sectors including retail, manufacturing, professional services, technology, architecture, as well as creative and design. Over 850 Brisbane business people have attended the forums to date with forums focusing on Auckland, Chongqing, Daejeon, Hyderabad, Kaohsiung, Kobe, Semarang and Shenzhen.
The forums are supported by the Brisbane Sister Cities Steering Committee and various business agencies and bilateral chambers of commerce, providing an exclusive networking opportunity for attendees.
At the Lord Mayor’s International Business Forum, attendees can:
- learn how to expand into international markets by leveraging Brisbane’s Sister City network
- connect with like-minded business owners, industry experts, representatives of key organisations, Brisbane Sister City representatives and Council officers.
Coordinated by the International Relations and Multicultural Affairs Unit, the forums are held during the year in different suburbs of Brisbane at no cost.
