The Marchant Ward comprises the suburbs of parts of Albion, Aspley, Chermside, Chermside West, Geebung, Gordon Park, Grange, Kedron, Lutwyche, Stafford, Stafford Heights, Windsor and Wooloowin.

Councillor Fiona Hammond

Fiona Hammond is the Deputy Chair of the City Planning and Suburban Renewal Committee. This committee is responsible for planning the sustainable development of Brisbane to ensure economic prosperity and maintain Brisbane resident’s quality of life. She is also a member of the Infrastructure Committee.

Since her election in 2008, Fiona has worked to improve her community as Councillor for Marchant. Fiona, now in her fourth term as Councillor, lives locally with her family and always works to ensure Marchant Ward remains a great and safe place to live.

Fiona is passionate about resolving local issues and ensuring that residents’ voices are heard. In her role as Councillor, she regularly meets with residents and attends community events to discuss local issues.

Fiona has worked tirelessly to upgrade and improve the local area, and is proud of her achievements including:

  • upgrades to local parks, such as dog off leash areas, exercise equipment, new playgrounds, barbecue facilities and seating
  • increased accessibility and services at local libraries, including the Grange Library refurbishment and the new Chermside Library
  • new lighting and playing surfaces for local sporting fields, as well as irrigation upgrades
  • a record commitment to road resurfacing and major road upgrades such as the Geebung overpass and the Murphy/Ellison Road intersection upgrade.

Fiona previously served as Chair of the Environment, Parks and Sustainability Committee. Fiona has also held the position of Deputy Chair of the City Planning and Economic Development Committee and of the Public and Active Transport Committee. She was previously a member of the Lifestyle and Community Services, Environment, Parks and Sustainability, and Finance and Economic Development Committees. Fiona also served as a trustee of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust for eight years.

In recognition of Council’s commitment to representing residents and visitors of culturally diverse backgrounds, Councillor Hammond is also a Lord Mayor’s representative for multicultural communities.
