Changed traffic conditions on the Story Bridge for essential maintenance works

Traffic changes and closures will be in place from 9pm Thursday 2 April to 5am Monday 13 April for essential maintenance works on the Story Bridge and the 2026 Tour de Brisbane event.

Motorists and public transport users should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time.

9pm Thursday 2 April to 9pm Saturday 11 April

Various single and multiple lane closures will be in place on the Story Bridge during this time. A single southbound lane will be continuously closed during this time.

9pm Saturday 11 April to 1pm Sunday 12 April

The Story Bridge will be fully closed during this time. Only emergency vehicles and Tour de Brisbane support vehicles will be permitted to access the bridge.

1pm Sunday 12 April to 5am Monday 13 April

One lane in each direction of the Story Bridge will be open, with a reduced speed limit of 20km/h.

Pedestrian, cyclist and scooter access will be maintained at all times. Temporary footpath closures of the eastern footpath will occur at night, with signed detours in place.

Police, traffic controllers and signage will be in place to assist motorists, buses, pedestrians and cyclists.

Detour routes will be in place and clearly signed, with motorists encouraged to use alternative river crossings, including the Captain Cook Bridge or the Clem7 tunnel.

Tolls on the Clem7 tunnel will be waived from 4.30am to 1pm Sunday 12 April 2026 during the full bridge closure associated with the Tour de Brisbane event.
