From 9pm Friday 22 May 2026, the Walter Taylor Bridge, Indooroopilly and Chelmer, will close for essential renewal works.

The bridge will reopen as soon as this weekend’s scheduled works are complete.

If works take the full scheduled period, the bridge will reopen by 5am Monday 25 May 2026.

Further weekend bridge closures will take place on the below weekends across May and June 2026:

·         9pm Friday 29 May to 5am Monday 1 June

·         9pm Friday 5 June to 5am Monday 8 June

·         9pm Friday 19 June to 5am Monday 22 June

Dates and times are subject to change pending weather and construction conditions.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicles during these times. Please plan an alternative route and allow for extra travel time.

A section of Wharf Street, between Rosebery Terrace and Regatta Street, and Radnor Street, between Foxton Street and Riverview Terrace, will also be closed during this time.

Public transport services will also be affected, with bus routes 105, 106, 127, 598 and 599 requiring passengers to transfer via train to cross the river.

The Walter Taylor Bridge footpath has closed to allow for scaffold placement and will remain closed until the works finish. Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use Jack Pesch Bridge during this time.

Traffic control and onsite signage will be in place to assist pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles and public transport users during the closures.
