Changes to ferry and bus services for Riverfire 2025
Changes will be in effect on Council’s inner-city ferry and bus network from 4pm Saturday 6 September 2025 for Riverfire 2025.
CityCats/Ferries
- Northshore Hamilton - UQ St Lucia
- CityCat services will be temporarily suspended between Mowbray Park and North Quay from 6.15-7.45pm.
- Services will continue between UQ St Lucia and Milton, and Northshore Hamilton and New Farm Park during this time.
- QUT Gardens Point terminal will close from 4pm Saturday 6 September, until Sunday 7 September as it is used to support Riverfire event operations.
- CityCat services will resume to normal after 7.45pm, except for QUT Gardens Point.
- The final CityCats to South Bank before the fireworks will depart at the following times:
- 5.45pm from Northshore Hamilton
- 6.15pm from UQ St Lucia
- Dockside – Sydney Street / Holman Street – Riverside
- Services will be temporarily suspended from 6.30-8.30pm.
- Additional services between Riverside and Holman Street will operate from 4– 6.30pm and 8.30pm to midnight.
- Maritime Museum – QUT Gardens Point
- Last service from Maritime Museum to QUT Gardens Point will depart 3.44pm.
- Last service from QUT Gardens Point to Maritime Museum will depart 3.50pm.
- Services will resume on Sunday 7 September.
- Bulimba – Teneriffe
- No services change.
Buses
- Additional outbound BUZ services have been added for the period post-fireworks between approximately 7.30-9.00pm.
- Additional inbound trips on routes 222 and 333 have been added before the event between approximately 5.00-6.45pm.
- Additional M1 trips will operate in both directions between 5-9.30pm.
- There will be a shuttle service operating from the Cultural Centre to Woolloongabba Station between 7.30pm and 9.30pm every 7 minutes.
- There will be no changes to Nightlink services or City Gliders.
