Find the best Council pools for kids, parties, fitness, relaxation and heritage charm.

Okay Brisbane, we know you love a good swim! Whether you love laps, splashing with the kids, or lazing poolside with a cool drink in hand, you’ll find plenty of options at Councils 22 public pools.

What’s more, this summer (from 1 December 2025 to 28 February 2026), we’re bringing back $2 Summer Dips for pool entry to help everyone stay cool for less.

Best pools for kids

Little ones got energy to burn? Let the water play areas at Council’s pools keep them entertained.

For smaller kids new to the water, Jindalee Pool features a colourful splash pad, while Newmarket Pool has a shaded toddlers' wading pool with water play activities, a splashpad with spray cannons and another shallow leisure pool with sprays and slides. For older kids, Newmarket has a 30-metre double-loop waterslide ($3 extra in addition to general pool entry), while the Hibiscus Sports Complex Pool in Upper Mount Gravatt has a 20-metre twisting waterslide.

Best pools for birthday parties

What’s not to love about a pool party?

Kids will adore Runcorn Pool's water park, with a waterslide and water play elements. You can also pre-book party packages which include child supervision, catering, games and customised activities.

Older children might like to celebrate at the Colmslie Aquatic Centre in Morningside, which has an inflatable obstacle course which can be hired for a party, or you could head to Chermside Aquatic Centre, which is home to Brisbane’s largest water park. Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool in Corinda is a great option for smaller kids’ parties with its wading pool and waterslide.

Chermside Water Park is excluded from the $2 Summer Dips program.

Best pools for fitness

The days of laps-only pool fitness are long gone, with Brisbane pools offering aqua classes, including deep water running and aqua yoga. (Don't worry, we won't make you do downward dog on the bottom of the pool.)

If you like to keep your options open, complexes like Parkinson Aquatic Centre also boast a health club so you can take your pick between Zumba and spin classes or swimming laps.

If you work in or near Fortitude Valley, hit the Valley Pool for lunchtime laps and pick up a coffee and snack from the onsite cafe.

Keen to brush up on your swimming technique and improve your lap time? Check out the squad swimming and stroke development options at your local pool.

Hot tip: Newmarket, Musgrave and Langlands pools have the newest 50-metre pools in Council’s network, which are great for laps.

Staying active and healthy is easy with our great range of free or low-cost water-based classes to keep you moving. We have classes for everyone – all abilities and fitness levels. Our pools are accessible for people with disability.

Best pool for basking in the sun

Looking for a bit of rest and relaxation? Throw on your favourite kaftan and head to the Bellbowrie Pool to laze by the water. This venue is great for leisurely swimming and offers plenty of shade to lay and read or have a snooze. Afterwards, hit the onsite cafe for cool drinks and tasty treats.

Best pools for beach vibes

When you're craving the beach, but don't have time to go, try some of our local pools with beach vibes instead.

Ithaca Pool in Paddington has an outdoor saltwater pool and shaded areas made for relaxation. Sandgate Aquatic Centre offers a family day out on the Moreton Bay foreshore, with kids’ play area, indoor and outdoor pools, grassy areas and café.

For iconic Brisbane beach vibes, try the famous Streets Beach in South Bank. Plan a day at the golden human-made beach with spectacular city views, grassy areas for relaxing, barbecues, café and restaurants along a riverfront promenade.

Best pools for nostalgia

Find old world charm at heritage-listed Spring Hill Baths. This venue is home to Brisbane's first in-ground pool built in 1886 and includes classic changing rooms and grandstand seating.

Or forget time as you float in the historic Centenary Pool in Spring Hill. Gaze up at the modernist building designed by prominent Queensland architect, James Birrell, for 1959 centenary celebrations.
