Metro Arts, West End
After moving to West Village in West End, Metro Arts became the suburb's first live theatre in 25 years. As Brisbane’s art hub, Metro Arts supports a range a range of visual and performing art all year-round. Join Brisbane in supporting emerging artists and unique stories through theatre, dance, comedy and more.
La Boite Theatre, Kelvin Grove
For over 95 years, La Boite Theatre has connected artists and audiences through impactful stories that entertain and inspire. It features Australia’s only theatre-in-the-round and is the longest-running theatre company in the country.
Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm
The iconic Brisbane Powerhouse is one of the most well-known venues on our list. It entertains residents and visitors with a variety of comedy shows, art displays, music theatre, and more. Since 2014, Powerhouse has played host to some of the country's funniest personalities during the annual Brisbane Comedy Festival.
PIP Theatre, Milton
A short walk from the Brisbane River, PIP Theatre (Purpose in Performance) offers an intimate experience for theatre lovers. Featuring performances from some of Brisbane's best up-and-coming creatives, PIP is a hidden gem of Brisbane's art scene.
SunPAC, Sunnybank and Seven Hills Hub, Seven Hills
If you're looking to enjoy a night of performance in the suburbs, then check out Seven Hills Hub and SunPAC.
Located in Sunnybank, SunPAC is the southside's top performing arts and cultural centre, featuring everything from ballads to comedy.
The Seven Hills Hub is a key spot for southside creatives. For younger creatives, the venue houses Backbone, a youth arts organisation supporting experimental thinkers.
Anywhere Festival (annual)
Expect the unexpected at the annual Anywhere Festival, where gyms, reservoirs, and backyards transform into unique performance spaces. Launched in 2011 as Brisbane's version of a fringe festival, it offers exciting storytelling across the city. Past performances have included poetry in lighthouses, circus acts in driveways, music in backyards, and storytelling on ferries. They’ve also featured theatre in hedge mazes and musicals in airplanes!
